Andrew received his Ph.D. in 2007 in Biological Systems Engineering from UC Davis and has over 15 years of experience working with nucleic acids in a broad range of applications.
Andrew has been an Associate Project Scientist in Professor Tom Soh’s Lab at UC Santa Barbara for the past five years. In this time, he has had the opportunity to carry out research, propose and execute new project ideas, guide many graduate students and postdoctoral associates to start and complete projects, and manage lab activities. he also has industry experience working with nucleic acids; prior to serving as a scientist at his current position, he was a postdoctoral associate at Novartis. In this role, he developed a targeted DNA enrichment method from human plasma samples in preparation for a prenatal diagnostic test. As a postdoctoral associate at Novartis, he co-authored four invention disclosures for technology related to this project.
